FLUTESSENCE Flute Quartet |
Flutessence is an ensemble of flutes formed in 2002. We perform music from many different countries in a variety of styles including Baroque, Classical, Romantic and 20th Century. Some of the more modern repertoire is influenced by jazz, Celtic and popular music. Many of the pieces we play are written specifically to exploit the sound of four flutes. Other pieces are arrangements of chamber, orchestral and choral music. As well as the familiar concert flute we add piccolo and alto flute to the mix. We have given many concerts along the South coast and have been invited to perform at The Chapel Royal, Brighton, Bognor Regis Music Club and Brighton College. We have played for art exhibitions at the Lewes Community Centre and the Brighton Festival. Flutessence can put together complete concert programmes, or perform alongside other musicians. We are available for weddings and functions and would be delighted to discuss your preferred choice of music for your special occasion. Please CLICK HERE to send us an email. |
The current ensemble players are Carol Alderson, Paul Dorrell, Alison Travis & John Coote. We all live on the Sussex coast and have performed in local orchestras and ensembles including the Brighton Philharmonic, Worthing Philharmonic, Southern Winds, Southwick Opera and the South Downs Concert Band. |
